Mr. Literacy’s story is one of resilience and transformation by itself. Overcoming a childhood marked by poverty and abuse, he endured immense adversity and all before the age of 12. Mr. Literacy -the boy- found safety and a home in “the streets” where he did all he could to survive. He seemed to drift from one misfortune to the next until he eventually faced a decade-long prison sentence. This was the turning point in his life.

Re-emerged from the ashes of his former life, Mr. Literacy is now an inventor, entrepreneur, multi-dimensional founder, author, songwriter, and visionary! As a certified health and fitness instructor, he uses his infectious optimism and motivating personality to inspire others to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. He especially advocates for the maintenance of our mental health. Defying the odds, he has successfully reintegrated into society, proving that transformation is possible.

While statistics show that 50% of offenders are arrested within three years of release, Mr. Perkins has defied the odds. After more than four years of successful reintegration, he exemplifies the power of perseverance and the belief that all things are possible.
